Tremolo Springs..Words of Wisdom

Who has words of wisdom as far as selecting Tremolo springs to get a soft/emotive touch and still be able to deck it for Van Halen tunes? I have never seen the need to replace an EBMM/SbMM bridge, but do only use Highwood Contour saddles. Strength of springs and numbers. Thoughts? Subjective I know…
