Volume intermittently fluctuates on my Cutlass
I’m looking for direction for my Cutlass which I’ve had since September 17. Within the last month or so a problem seems to be showing itself after playing it for a half an hour or more where the volume level just goes down by about 1/2. It very much resembles the drop from splitting a humbucker, but this is a SSS. I’ll check the pot on the guitar to see if I bumped it causing it to turn down but it’ll still be sitting full clockwise or full up. After a couple of minutes it might fluctuate back up, and may or may not stay. I’ve tapped on the pots, wiggled the switches, etc. with no success isolating this. I’ve tried changing the 9v 3x now and it doesn’t help. This morning I switched over to a PRS Silver Sky to make sure my amp wasn’t the problem. The PRS wasn’t losing volume. Anybody have experience with this? The amp I’m playing into is a Mesa California Tweed that is about 6 months old and none of my other guitars are doing this so I’m not suspecting the amp.
The thought of taking this to somebody who is ham fisted to work on it, especially for a likely problem with the electronics is a non starter for me. I’m am within driving distance of the factory. Anybody here know if EB will look at a guitar if it’s brought to them? Again I’ve only had it 4 months. It’s one of the Scarlett Red BFR’s. I love this thing and it is my go to guitar..
