X4 Looper power issue.

I have a problem I can’t figure out.
I purchased the “pedal power Mondo” today. I plugged my “TC electriconics X4 Looper” into one of the 9V (or 12V) jacks. What happened was that all of the lights on the pedal and wouldn’t turn off and the pedal wouldn’t work. I then plugged it into one of the 9V high-current outputs jacks and that solved the issue.
My question is why that happened. Did I do something wrong or potentially dangerous for my pedal?
