New Takamines debut at Summer NAMM

has pushed the boat out at Summer NAMM this week, launching additions to its budget G series, two new limited edition models for 2017 and the introduction of two more Thermal Top models.
Takmine’s budget G series gains four new instruments – the GY11ME, GN77KCE, GN90CE ZC and GD90CE ZC.
‘The entire purpose of the G Series is to allow musicians to not have to make big compromises with their instruments based only on its price,’ says Tom Watters, Director of Product Development for Takamine. ‘Despite their affordability, these new G Series are truly excellent instruments that any songwriter or performing musician would be happy to add to their arsenal.’
The GY11ME is an all-mahogany New Yorker-sized Takamine with a low gloss natural satin finish and an old-school slot headstock. It comes with Takamine’s own TP-4T electronics, complete with an equaliser and chromatic tuner. The GN77KCE is a Hawaiian koa model with a clear gloss finish that complements the mini-jumbo NEX cutaway body. It includes TP-4TD electronics also with an equaliser and built-in chromatic tuner.
Available in cutaway dreadnought and mini-jumbo NEX body styles, the new GN90CE ZC and GN90CE ZC make use of solid spruce tops and ziricote backs and sides. These guitars feature maple binding, abalone inlay and rosette, and gold open-gear butterbean tuners. They also offer Takamine’s TP-4TD electronics for ease of use on stage, and include a gig bag.
The limited edition models are the professional class CP6SSDC and the CP5D OAD. Both make use of Adirondack spruce tops. The CP6SSDC is a slope-shouder dreadnought cutaway with a deep cherry sunburst finish. It features a solid Adirondack spruce top and sapele back and sides as well as Takamine’s CTP3 CoolTube electronics.
The CP5D OAD is a dreadnought that pairs the sound of an Adirondack spruce top and ovangkol back and sides. Takamine says this combination of tonewoods creates a very dynamic guitar with ‘sweet and glossy midrange’. The CP5D OAD features Takamine’s CT4B II electronics.
Finally, Takamine is adding two newcomers to its artificially aged Thermal Top series, the EF360SC TT and EF400SC TT.

The EF360SC TT is a spruce topped cutaway dreadnought made at Takamine’s Japan-based Pro Series facility and features a solid Indian rosewood back.
With the EF400SC TT, there’s finally a 12-string solution for players who want the advantage of Takamine’s thermal-top technology. The EF400 SC TT offers a solid thermal spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back, and a mahogany neck plus CT4B II electronics,
