Ovation Unveils the Gus G. Signature 1868-GUS-G Pro Series Elite
Plug in and feel the flames. With the introduction of the new 1868 Pro Series Elite / Gus G. Signature, Ovation presents an acoustic-electric guitar that combines the brand’s distinctive sound with the familiar feel and performance demands of today’s rock and metal guitarists. Developed in collaboration with internationally acclaimed guitarist Gus G., this signature model brings together exceptional playing comfort, professional stage performance, and a bold, unmistakable design.
New Hartford, CT, USA, October 30, 2026. Ovation expands its lineup with the 1868 Pro Series Elite Gus G. Signature, an artist model shaped by the vision and personal needs of the renowned Greek guitarist. Best known as the founder and guitarist of the metal band Firewind and for his longtime collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne, Gus G. brought his own playing preferences and performance needs to the development process. The result is an acoustic-electric guitar that pairs Ovation’s unmistakable tonal character with the effortless playability electric guitarists know and love.
Acoustic Sound. Electric Feel.
At the heart of the design is Ovation’s proven Super Shallow Bowl. Its exceptionally slim body provides a comfortable, close-to-the-body playing position, while the sleek neck profile delivers a familiar feel, particularly for musicians who spend most of their time playing electric guitar.
The result is a seamless transition between electric and acoustic playing. Guitarists can maintain their familiar technique without having to significantly adjust their playing position or approach.
For Gus G., these qualities are a central part of his new signature guitar:
“I always loved the playability of the Ovation guitars – it feels as smooth as the neck of an electric.”
Built for the Stage
As a pioneer in acoustic-electric guitar development, Ovation helped redefine live acoustic performance with its groundbreaking piezoceramic pickup technology. That heritage is reflected in the new Gus G. Signature, where the OP-Pro preamp and legendary OCP-1 pickup work together to deliver versatile, professional-grade stage performance.
The carefully matched pickup and preamp system integrates effortlessly into existing live rigs, whether connected by a traditional instrument cable or through a wireless system. Its electronics support a broad range of musical expression, from atmospheric acoustic intros and expressive melodic leads to powerful rhythm playing.
A Design with Attitude
Visually, the 1868 Pro Series Elite Gus G. Signature is every bit as distinctive as the guitarist behind it. The striking flame artwork reflects Gus G.’s roots in rock and metal, while his signature on the headstock and a distinctive abalone cross inlay at the 12th fret complete the instrument’s unmistakable look.
The result is a guitar that combines stage-ready functionality with a bold visual identity, reflecting both the musical background and personality of its namesake.
Rock Energy. Acoustic Soul.
With the 1868 Pro Series Elite Gus G. Signature, Ovation continues its longstanding legacy on rock and metal stages around the world. Designed especially for electric guitarists, this new signature model delivers comfortable playability, versatile acoustic tone, and uncompromising live performance without sacrificing the familiar feel of an electric guitar.
