Andrew Small to open Yamaha’s Drumfest

Yamaha UK has announced that Andrew Small will be opening Yamaha’s Drumfest events in September and October with a Masterclass on Hybrid Drumming and Triggering. Yamaha’s three-day festival devoted entirely to drumming is being held in Cardiff, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow and London (note a change of previously announced venues, see below).
Small is one of the most respected drummers pioneering what is now commonly known as ‘Hybrid’ Drumming, bringing the worlds of electronic and acoustic drums together on live stages around the world with artists who have included Massive Attack and Moloko. He has also worked as musical director for Kylie Minogue and Il Divo.
‘There is no one better than Andrew to give a step-to-step guide of how electronics can be used to complement your playing when tackling various styles of music, while also highlighting some pitfalls to avoid. With live performance Q&A and demonstrations this will be an opportunity not to be missed,’ Yamaha says.
