“Am I alive?”: Wolfgang Van Halen responds to internet rumours that he died as child
There are countless conspiracy theories floating around about famous musicians. According to some conspiracists, Elvis isn’t dead, Tupac’s thriving in Cuba, Paul McCartney was replaced by an impostor in ’67… the list goes on.
The latest conspiracy concerns Wolfgang Van Halen, who apparently died as a child.

If you’ve attended any Mammoth WVH concerts over the summer, this may come as a shock. It’s bizarre to imagine how someone has managed to re-animate Wolfgang’s corpse so well – he shreds pretty well for a walking dead man.
Wolfgang himself has recently shared the conspiracy on his Instagram. In a screenshotted post, a conspiracist insists the guitarist died as a child. Wolfgang captions it with a sarcastic “Chat, am I alive?”

“This is getting ridiculous,” the screenshotted post reads. “I know for a fact that Wolfgang Van Halen died as a toddler. But now they are showing him as grown and alive.”
According to the conspiracist, Wolfgang is “Valerie Bertinelli and Van Halen’s son who fell from a balcony and died many years ago”.
You might recognise this story from somewhere else; Eric Clapton’s son, Conor Clapton, fell from the 53rd floor of an apartment building back in 1991. Eddie Van Halen, however, has no similar tragedies to his name.
The poster has clearly gotten their legendary guitarists mixed up, and Wolfgang’s fans have jumped on the conspiracist’s mistake. “Tears In Halen,” one commenter writes, referring to Clapton’s Tears In Heaven, penned while the guitarist grieved his late son.
But Wolfgang doesn’t want to focus on the somber side of the confusion. “Guys we know they’re confusing me for Clapton’s kid,” he writes, before encouraging people to instead focus on “[making] fun of this stupid person with me.”
Most fans are playing along with the conspiracy. “It’s official dude… Sorry you got the news late,” a fan writes. Another notes that the post is a sign of Wolfgang’s fame: “you know you’re famous when you’re ‘dead’ when you’re absolutely not.”
