Artists discuss their first Les Pauls, SGs and more on My First Gibson

Gibson has launched a new video series which sees several prominent artists tell the stories behind their first Gibson guitar. The likes of blues rocker Jared James Nichols, Fear’s Lee Ving and even Curb Your Enthusiasm star, Jeff Garlin all make appearances on GibsonTV’s, My First Gibson.
Taking a dive into the stories of how various artists acquired their first Gibson instrument, the series explores each artist’s musical history, influences and playing style. “Every guitar has a story,” wrote Mark Agnesi, Director of Brand Experience at Gibson. “For most guitarists, getting their first Gibson guitar is a rite of passage that often requires patience, persistence, sacrifice, a twist of fate and even some good luck.”
My First Gibson’s genre-spanning roster of featured artists include blues rockers Jared James Nichols and Gilby Clarke; punk musicians Mike Ness, Lee Ving and Jade Puget; as well as Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel, Erik Paparozzi – and actors Jeff Garlin and KJ Apa. Each episode is streamable on Gibson’s website, as well as GibsonTV’s YouTube channel. Take a look at the episode with Social Distortion’s Mike Ness above.
Another one of Gibson’s ongoing video series, The Songbook, sees artists from around the world give stripped-down acoustic performances. The latest episode – featuring Steven Brodsky and Adam McGrath from Cave In – premiered last Friday (15 May).
