Guitars
Fender Custom Shop
Fender Custom Shop Postmodern Stratocaster
Image: Fender Custom ShopThe Journeyman style of relic’ing on this Strat is the third-lightest relic option Fender provides, after the brand’s ‘Closet Classic’ and new old stock options. The wood grain is just about peeking through the finish, and the guitar feels more ‘broken-in’ than broken. The fretboard’s compound radius means modern comfort and playability despite the aged look.
Lists for $2,999. More details here. Total savings: $951
1960 Relic Stratocaster
This Strat comes in an aged Olympic White, and while it may seem like the real deal at first look due to the detailed relic job, the guitar has plenty of playability enhancements thrown in.
Lists for $3,100. More details here. Total savings: $700
GT11 Heavy Relic Stratocaster
This Sweetwater-exclusive Strat comes with 50s wiring and the same careful relic’ing found in all of the Fender Custom Shop relics. It’s also loaded with the Sweet ’64 single coils, for that ‘holy grail’ of vintage Strat tones.
Lists for $2,899. More details here. Total savings: $1,021
Fender Custom Shop 1956 Time Machine Journeyman Telecaster
Image: FenderLike the sound of the subtler Journeyman relic, but prefer T-types to S-types? This might be the axe for you. ’55/’56 pickups give you the bite of an old Tele, and the low frets mean that the classic sound doesn’t come at the cost of playability.
Lists for $2,999. More details here. Total savings: $801
Fender Custom Shop 1957 Time Machine Relic Stratocaster
With a lighter relic job, the 1957 Time Machine Stratocaster has just a touch of that vintage vibe. The quarter-sawn maple neck offers modern playability and tuning stability, while vintage 50s-style pickups offer a more traditional single-coil tone.
Lists for $2,499 More details here. Total savings: $751
Fender Custom Shop GT11 1963 Heavy Relic Telecaster
Like it’s Stratocaster sibling, this GT11 Sweetwater exclusive hits the sweet spot between vintage tone and modern feel. An alder body gives this axe that classic, balanced Tele tone, as does the 50s wiring. The reversed control plate also means the volume control is right on hand.
Lists for $2,999 More details here. Total savings: $921
Fender Custom Shop 1952 Time Machine Heavy Relic Telecaster
Image: FenderGrabbing one of these carefully-but-heavily-relic’d axes from the Custom Shop might be the best option for a more time-worn look. This particular Tele is based on the ’52 Nocaster, the name given to Telecasters that were built after a dispute over the guitar’s original name, the Broadcaster. During this time, guitars didn’t have a model name on the headstock, hence the Nocaster.
Lists for $3,100. More details here. Total savings: $1,000
Fender Custom Shop Ltd Journeyman Relic Tomatillo Stratocaster
Another Journeyman-relic’d Stratocaster – this time finished in Tomatillo Green. The ‘half-blend’ wiring on these instruments lets you blend in the neck pickup to positions one and two, preventing them from becoming thin and reedy.
Lists for $2,999. More details here. Total savings: $1,001
Fender Custom Shop Postmodern Telecaster
With a Journeyman relic and a Dirty White finish, this Postmodern Tele features all the Custom Shop trimmings you’d expect, as well as an open-loaded Nocaster neck pickup for hot, punchy tones.
Lists for $2,799 More details here. Total savings: $1,001
Fender
Fender American Professional Telecaster
This Ocean Turquoise Tele is another Sweetwater exclusive – and has seen a hefty price drop. Unlike the discounted Custom Shop offerings from Sweetwater, this guitar has no relic’ing, but hand-wound Nocaster single coils and a brass three-saddle bridge give this guitar that vintage appeal. A roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard also add gravitas to the guitar’s look.
Lists for $1,299. More details here. Total saving: $350.99.
Fender Parallel Universe American Strat-Tele Hybrid

Andertons is offering this unusual guitar: a mashup of Telecaster and Stratocaster features, it’s got the pickup and control layout of a Strat in a Tele body. A Strat-style trem contrasts nicely with the T-style single-cut body finished in Two-colour sunburst.

PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd Rose Sweetwater exclusive
