Listen to Jimi Hendrix’s explosive Ezy Ryder track

dropped a previously unreleased live recording of Ezy Ryder.
The track is part of the band’s upcoming box set Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East. This collection – available digitally or as a five-CD or eight-LP set – is the first release containing all four the band’s debut gigs in full. The performances took place over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in 1969 and 1970, and provided material for Hendrix’s live album, Band Of Gypsys, which dropped in 1971. The collection itself features several previously unreleased recordings, unedited cuts of track and out-of-print songs.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the collection, bassist Billy Cox shares that he can still recall how the Band Of Gypsys’ music moved the crowds at the live shows. “I distinctly remember you could see people with their mouths hanging wide open about five, six, 10 rows,” he said. “They had never heard anything like that, but evidently it had sounded good to them, because we got almost a standing ovation after every song.”
Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East is available 22 November. Listen to the recording of Ezy Ryder above.
