Fender teams up with Shawn Mendes for a revamped floral-finished Musicmaster

Fender, in collaboration with musician Shawn Mendes, has released the Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster – a revamped version of the classic Fender design, featuring some modern updates and a classy vintage floral finish.
The guitar’s construction consists of an alder body, with a bolt-on maple neck and fingerboard – C-shaped and with a 9.5-inch radius respectively. The scale-length is a relatively short 24 inches, as opposed to Fender’s more common 25.5-inch fare.
In terms of electronics, the botanical-print pickguard is loaded with a Player Series humbucker in the neck position and a Tex-Mex Stratocaster single-coil in the bridge position. The humbucker can be coil-split with a push-pull pot, and there’s also a hardtail six-saddle Strat bridge and a three-way toggle switch.
Visually, the guitar is striking – with vintage illustration-style flower designs across the body. The neck plate is also engraved with the Shawn Mendes Foundation logo.
In a statement about its release, Mendes said: “I am so excited to release this guitar collaboration between Fender and The Shawn Mendes Foundation, I hope it inspires some of my fans to pick up and learn guitar for the first time, and give back while doing so.”
The Shawn Mendes Foundation itself aims to encourage young people “to learn about those causes that they are passionate about, and help empower them to use the voice they have to bring change to the world by taking action & giving back.”

The guitar lists for £699 / $749 – find out more over at fender.com. Find out more about the foundation over at shawnmendesfoundation.org.
