“I’m not nearly that giant!”: Kerry King wants The Rock to play him in a Slayer biopic

Kerry King says he would like for Dwayne Johnson to play him if a Slayer biopic were to be made someday.
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, King responds to a fan’s inquiry about which actor he would choose to portray his character in a film about the iconic band.

“The only one that loosely fits the description [to play me] is Vin Diesel,” he says. “If you go down that road you might also say The Rock, but I’m not nearly that giant! That would be awesome, though – I’ll say The Rock, because I like a lot of the stuff he’s in.”
His love for the Fast & Furious stars aside, King also shared how he nearly joined Megadeth as a full-time member before eventually deciding to focus on Slayer.
“I was almost in Megadeth,” said the guitarist. “I think if myself and Dave Mustaine could have co-existed for four years, it would have been a very different band. I’m not saying I’d have made them better – I’d have made them different.”
Last month, Slayer played their first concert in five years with a hit-packed set at Chicago’s Riot Fest. The heavy metal icons also headlined the first of four nights of the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on 10 October 2024.
While Slayer’s recent reunion has thrilled fans, King has been clear about the band’s future, stating that these shows are merely a one-off and insisting that Slayer “will never tour again.”
“We’re never gonna record again; that’s not gonna happen either,” he said. “But to do commemorative shows, I think that’s kind of fun. I don’t have to be married to it for a long time. Kids don’t have to worry about it coming around on tour because we said we wouldn’t. There’s not a whole lot of weird diabolical shit going on here. I think people have just gotta say, ‘Hey, it’s anniversary celebration shows.’ That’s gonna be the end of it.”
