Prince estate shares new video for Baltimore on late artist’s birthday

To coincide with what would have been Prince’s 62nd birthday (7 June), the Prince estate released a new music video for Baltimore – along with a handwritten note from the late artist. Both are centred on the stance of anti-racism and anti-violence. Take a look at the music video above.
Adding on to the video, Prince’s estate also shared a handwritten note from the late musician himself over Instagram which read: “Nothing more ugly in the whole wide world than intolerance [between] black, white, red, yellow, boy or girl. Intolerance.”
The Instagram caption accompanying the note wrote: “Prince dedicated his life to speaking out against injustice, advocating for black excellence, and spreading the message of ‘Love 4 One Another.’” The full post below.

Prince dedicated his life to speaking out against injustice, advocating for black excellence, and spreading the message of “Love 4 One Another.” In this note that he kept in his personal archives, he wrote a message that still resonates today. “Nothing more ugly in the whole wide world than INTOLERANCE (between) Black, white, red, yellow, boy or girl. INTOLERANCE.” #Love4OneAnother #Prince

Baltimore was originally released in April 2015, responding to the death of Baltimore citizen Freddie Gray – who died from severe spinal cord injury while in police custody. The 25-year old’s death instigated citywide protests, which in turn inspired Prince to record the song at Paisley Park Studios.
In May 2015, Prince organised a benefit event, live-streamed through Jay-Z’s Tidal, entitled Rally 4 Peace. The program pledged a portion of its proceeds towards Baltimore-based youth charities.
