PRS Silver Sky x Land Rover Defender: an unlikely collaboration that goes kinda hard
PRS has joined forces with Jaguar Land Rover, of all partners, to unveil a raft of new Silver Sky finishes inspired by JLR’s legendary 4×4, the Defender.
The collaboration isn’t as random as it might seem on the surface, though. The Silver Sky is the signature electric guitar of John Mayer, who also happens to be an avid fan of Defenders, and the proud owner of one in the heritage colour Arles Blue for the last 20 years. So there you go…
The new PRS x JLR partnership sees the US-made Silver Sky painted with four classic Defender colourways – Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red and Sandglow Yellow – while the more affordable SE Silver Sky also gets four new colours, this time inspired by contemporary Defender finishes. They are Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey and Woolstone Green.

The US-made edition comes with an exclusive hard case with the Defender wordmark, a neckplate with the brand’s logo and the instrument’s colour name called out, along with a matching painted headstock. The SE version has a neckplate with the Defender logo and colour called out, and comes in a PRS/Defender gig bag.

Naturally, the US-made models are more limited, capped at 500 units of each colour (2,000 in total). Meanwhile, the SE Silver Skys are not capped, but they’ll only be available to order until midyear 2027.
