Robert Fripp and Toyah’s lockdown Sunday Lunch series was such a sensation they’re making a movie about it – here’s an update on its progress
Toyah Willcox has shared an update on the long-awaited documentary on her and husband Robert Fripp’s Sunday Lunch lockdown sessions. Speaking at Rewind South to eonmusic, Toyah confirmed that a documentary crew had been filming the pair’s project.
Toyah and Fripp went viral during the Covid-19 lockdowns with covers of hit songs performed from their kitchen. Now, some years after the lockdowns ended, they’re still going, most recently offering up a rendition of The Rolling Stones’ Jumpin’ Jack Flash and the ZZ Top track, Gimme All Your Lovin’.

On the new documentary, Toyah said: “We shot a lot of stuff. We were shooting a documentary for a company in New Zealand.”
But a clear release date is out of the question, with Toyah adding: “I don’t know. They’ve got to make the movie first. They’ve got the footage.”
The film has been in the making since 2023 and that’s not all for the viral sensation. Toyah confirmed her album, Future Dreaming, will be released next April. She said: “My singles start in January. And then I have three singles: January, February, March, and then the album’s out in April.”
King Crimson guitarist Fripp will feature on two of the tracks, with the album produced by Andy Brooke. Toyah said: “He’s [Fripp] on two tracks. It’s been produced by a wonderful producer called Andy Brooke, who’s produced most magnificent arrangements. I’m very excited about it.”
Last year, Robert Fripp suffered a heart attack while travelling to Italy to attend one of his Guitar Craft courses. Ever one to look at the funny side of things, the guitarist later told the story of how hospital staff shaved his balls, for reasons still unknown to him to this day…
“I was in A&E, they hooked me up to a monitor, and the next step was this dear man turned up and shaved my balls,” Fripp recalled. “I thought, ‘Well, if this is something to do with my heart, why is he shaving my balls?’”
