Serek Basses unleashes The Grand, a short-scale bass with a built-in fuzz circuit

Serek Basses has announced The Grand, a short-scale bass with vintage appointments and a built-in fuzz circuit for instant “sputter and spit”.
The Grand starts with a poplar body, finished in a vintage-flavoured yellow nitro lacquer, and embellished with a red racing stripe. It features a bolt-on roasted maple neck with a 21 medium/wide nickel frets.
In the electronics department, this bass equips an angled TV Jones Thunder’Blade humbucker, which should provide a warm and full sound. This is controlled with a single master volume knob.
The Grand’s secret weapon is a built-in “Skuzz Serkit”, which is a passive fuzz circuit which can be engaged via a mini-toggle switch in the control section. The circuit brings three tonal flavours, described as “Skuzz”, “Tone Open” and “Tone Off”. Because the circuit is a passive one, you also won’t need a battery in order to engage it.
As for hardware, The Grand comes outfitted with Hipshot Ultralite tuning machines, a Hipshot vintage-style bridge and a bone nut.
Take a listen to the demo of The Grand below.

Like Serek’s other bass guitars, this one is handbuilt in batches in Chicago, Illinois, and is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Grand is priced at $1,850.
