Summer NAMM 2019: Gibson debuts three sets of factory-spec’ed strings
Gibson’s Summer NAMM 2019 plans are in full swing. Having recently announced new signature models, the brand has now introduced three sets of factory-spec’ed strings formulated by its master builders. The Vintage Reissue and Brite Wire electric guitar strings are identical to those found on production models launched after the debut of the Original and Modern ranges, while the Acoustic strings feature on Gibson’s new acoustic guitars. Here’s an overview:
Vintage Reissue
The Vintage Reissue electric guitar strings in light gaugeThese strings are touted to give you a vintage Gibson sound from the 50s. They’ve been engineered in the exact same way as their forebears, and feature high-quality core wire wrapped around by the ‘purest’ nickel. The Vintage Reissues have also been wound at optimal speeds and conditions, processes that help to bring out the aforementioned 50s tone and increase string life.
Available in Light, Ultra-Light and Medium gauges. Each retails at $11.99.
Brite Wire ‘Reinforced’
The Brite Wire ‘Reinforced’ electric guitar strings in ultra-light gaugeThese strings feature on all electric guitars coming out of Gibson’s Nashville facility. The ‘reinforced’ tag comes from the beefed-up carbon core, which is said to offer “superior durability”. These strings are also precision-wound with nickel-plated steel to give you a crisp attack, enhanced volume, and better sustain.
Available in Light, Ultra-Light and Medium gauges. Each retails at $9.99.
Acoustic
The Acoustic guitar strings in medium gaugeYou’ll find a set of these on each acoustic guitar built in Gibson’s Bozeman facility. The strings’ standout qualities include an “ultra-soft” feel, more top-end definition as well as longer-lasting tone.
Available in Light, Ultra-Light and Medium gauges. Each retails at $12.99.
