Supro introduces the Conquistador and the Clermont, two Bigsby-fitted hollowbodies
Supro has unveiled the two Bigsby-fitted hollowbodies, the Conquistador and the Clermont. The body design of each aims to expand the standard Supro double-cut shape to match the size and feel of a classic 335-style semi-hollow. The guitars were designed collaboratively with Nashville’s Ford Thurston.
The two guitars do have their subtle differences: the Conquistador features a mahogany body features, with a gentle bevel along the outer edge so keep it comfortable with the increase in size. Its neck is 3-piece mahogany. Meanwhile, the Clermont has a maple body and neck, and two gold foil mini-humbucker-sized single-coil pickups. The Conquistador has a gold-foil single-coil in the neck, and a PAF-style humbucker in the bridge.
Both guitars have individual volume controls for each pickup, and a master tone control – configured in a 50s style, so the output remains bright at low volumes. Each also is fitted with a Bigsby tremolo, with the Conquistador coming with a nylon bridge and the Clermont a roller bridge.
