Thurston Moore releases Cantaloupe, taken from his upcoming LP, By The Fire

By The Fire is set to release on 25 September under Moore’s own Daydream Library Series label. The record’s first single, entitled Hashish was written as “an ode to the narcotic of love in our shared responsibility to each other during isolation”, per a press release from the time.
Artists that contribute to By The Fire include bassist Debbie Googe of My Bloody Valentine and guitarist James Sedwards of Nøught, alongside drummers Jem Doulton and Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley. Another collaborator that will appear on the record is musician Wobbly (James Leidecker) of the esteemed San Francisco-founded experimental troupe Negativland.
While in lockdown, members of Sonic Youth, including Moore, Shelley and Lee Ranaldo have been unearthing and uploading archival rarities, which include B-sides and rare Japanoise cover tunes to full concerts from Sonic Youth’s decades-long live era.
One such release, Hold That Tiger featured a widely circulated Sonic Youth live bootleg from 1987 – speed corrected and released officially for the very first time.
