Tributes pour in for late guitar tech Alan Rogan

The guitar community lost one of its own last week when The Who announced the passing of Alan Rogan, the longtime guitar tech of Pete Townshend. Tributes have been flowing in since, with the likes of Fender CEO Andy Mooney, Slash, Fred Gretsch and more extending their condolences and celebrating the life of a true professional.
In a letter sent out yesterday, Mooney recalled his interactions with Rogan, from their first meeting to their recent email correspondence about David Gilmour’s auction.
“Anyone who knew Alan, knew him as someone who’d brighten every room and make every conversation fun, but Alan was also the consummate, professional guitar technician. Alan was gracious enough to take me backstage when he toured with The Who and AC/DC. He was proud of his work and no detail was too small,” added Mooney.

Mooney’s sentiments were echoed by guitar players and builders alike, as Slash (above) and Fred Gretsch both shared their thoughts on social media. Townshend also penned a heartwarming tribute to Rogan in his Instagram post:

My guitar tech, friend, saviour and good buddy Alan Rogan. Touring with Rachel Fuller in 2004. R.I.P. He has so many friends who will miss him, and his lovely family have been wonderful. Sorry I’m not allowing comments on this one.
