Watch: Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform Phenomena from Karen O’s closet

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have shared a version of their song, Phenomena – filmed in vocalist Karen O’s closet, charmingly complete with lights and smoke. The video features the band performing as a duo, with guitarist Nick Zinner making his appearance on a laptop screen. Take a look below.

Last week, the band reached out to fans in an Instagram post – urging them to support independently run venues across the US through the Save Our Stages movement. Their statement highlighted the dangers that the COVID-19 pandemic – which has live events around the globe put on hold – has placed on independently run venues in the US.
“I just got the memo that if concerts don’t resume in 2020, 90% of independent venues across America will most likely not open again,” Karen O wrote.
“As someone who came of age performing and depending on these clubs to make a living, who’s life was forever altered by attending these clubs as an awkward teen, and as an artist who wants to continue showing up at these clubs to play the shit out of them for you our fans, we’ve gotta make some noise to save our stages.” Read the full post below.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs – alongside The National and Run The Jewels – had been slated to headline at this year’s Pitchfork Festival, which was also cancelled due to COVID-19.
On the cancellation, drummer Brian Chase issued a statement expressing his disappointment, but acknowledged that the safety of the audience took priority. “This year we’ve had to cancel shows and it sucks; I’m sad and feeling it,” he wrote. “But, there is no other choice – it had to happen out of care and concern for people’s health and wellbeing – no question.”
