Cutlass silent circuit

I have two Cutlass’s – a first year SSS and 2018 HSS Roasted. I believe the silent circuit may need a tweak on the SSS, it is indeed noisier than the HSS (aside from humbucker).

The question I have is – does adjusting the silent circuit have any other effect on the tone and/or output of the pickups? Thank you for your time.
