Red Dog in administration

Red Dog, the ambitious high tech MI retailer with branches in Edinburgh and London, is in administration. MIN understands that some suppliers have already been contacted by Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group informing them that Stuart Robb and Julien Irving were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company on 21 November 2018. Stock counts and recovery of ROT affected goods will take place in Edinburgh on 4th December and in London on 27 and 28.

On Thursday morning, Red Dog’s website showed no signs of the company’s troubles, appearing still to be trading normally.

Red Dog was formed in May 2008 by former staff of Sound Control and Turnkey. On its website the company says: ‘Frustrated by the general direction of musical instrument shops, we decided that we’d start our own and run it in the way we think music shops should be run’.

Just over a year after its opening Red Dog won a ‘Best Independent Retailer’ award in the Music Industries Association’s annual awards ceremony and in 2014 won the MIA’s ‘Best Retailer (Medium)’. In 2015 Red Dog was hailed as Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Best Performing Business’.
