IK Multimedia’s new TONEX Board is its “most advanced” hardware platform yet: here is everything you need to know
IK Multimedia has launched the TONEX Board, its “most advanced” hardware platform and “the centrepiece” of its TONEX ecosystem.
Combining IK’s AI Machine Modeling technology with AmpliTube effects, dual signal paths, and touchscreen control, the TONEX Board puts a complete rig into a compact pedalboard in a first for the brand.
So far, IK’s TONEX range has landed glowing reviews from Guitar.com, with its TONEX Plug rated 8/10 and its small TONEX One pedal landing a 9/10 for its “excellent tones”.

With the all-new Board, users can run up to four Tone Models simultaneously (2,000 Premium Tone Models are included at launch) across two independent signal paths. Players can then combine these with 76 effects from AmpliTube and TONEX, plus all-new processors, using up to 12 effect slots.
The Board hosts a five-inch high-resolution colour touchscreen and six controls for building and editing your rigs, while a range of performance modes, independent stereo outputs, an assignable stereo effects loop, MIDI, and expression control provide the connectivity and control needed for recording, rehearsal, and stage use.
New content, effects, and capabilities are planned for release through future updates for the Board, but at release it includes the following software:
TONEX Modeler to capture amps, pedals, cabinets, and full rigs
TONEX software to import, download, and play Tone Models as a standalone or plugin version
TONEX Board Editor to transfer existing Tone Models and presets
TONEX Board users will also have exclusive access to TONEX Player 2.0 Beta, which offers dual-rig editing with all 76 included effects, TONEX Board preset saving, and full bidirectional transfer of Tone Models and presets between Mac or PC and TONEX Board using the TONEX Board Editor.
