Providing support at the show will be Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo band Mammoth WVH.
The stadium is located close to Las Vegas’ strip and took just under three years to build. Timing for the opening of the 65,000-capacity venue was a little unfortunate for those planning full-capacity events. It opened its doors in July of 2020, to a world that was gearing up to cancel or postpone pretty much all live music and sporting events.
The stadium’s website excitedly notes that Guns N’ Roses will be the first rock show at the venue, taking place on 27 August 2021.
Other music acts booked for the year include EDM artist Illenium and country singer Garth Brooks. The rest of the events booked so far are mostly American football games.
Last year, Slash dropped hints that Guns N’ Roses would be dropping new music in 2021. “We did a week of initial pre-production [on the Conspirators’ new album] and there’s 20 songs and we’re gonna start back up next year,” he told Cleveland.com. “I spent a lot of time writing and demoing that stuff.”
“And prior to that, Duff and I did some jamming and we also worked on the Guns record, and I’ve had a couple of ancillary recordings and jams on top of that, so there’s been a lot of stuff going on. I’m really not good at slowing down and just sitting around.”
He added: “I would like to think that we’d have some new stuff out next year – from both camps, I guess,” he said. “It’s hard to say, but I would like to think we’ll have stuff out next year.”
