“My inspiration is nearly zero”: Don’t expect new Slipknot music anytime soon, according to Jim Root

Since 2022’s The End, So Far, Slipknot fans have been ravenous for new music. Rumours have swirled lately regarding the release of the highly anticipated Look Outside Your Window, an album recorded during the All Hope is Gone sessions.
Percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan confirmed last year to NME that the record is coming, saying: “Management has it and it is coming out.”

But while Look Outside Your Window may be coming, guitarist Jim Root has cast doubt on the prospect of newly written Slipknot music arriving anytime soon, noting that with the band’s extensive touring schedule, his “inspiration is nearly zero”.
In a new interview with Guitar Interactive, Root is asked whether the band have been working on new music, to which he replies [via Blabbermouth]: “Not diligently.
“Honestly, we’ve been touring so much since [drummer] Eloy [Casagrande] joined the band that my inspiration is nearly zero. And there’s a bunch of music that was written during Covid that I’m not interested in.
“And I think everybody else in the band gets it too, and I think they’re kind of, like, ‘Okay, we need to maybe sweep all that shit under a rug and start fresh.’”
“And I wanna get touring behind us,” he continues. “I wanna have at least a month off just to shut my brain off and sleep and all that kind of stuff. And then when I find myself going out to my little home studio and putting riffs together, then I’ll know it’s time to start.”
In other news, a story recently emerged in which a customer’s Sweetwater order was shipped to Jim Root by mistake. The customer received an email from the retailer stating: “Hey (name redacted), you might laugh a little. For some reason, the post office shipped your guitar to Jim Root of Slipknot. We are working on the solution now.”
Slipknot are touring in Europe in June. For tickets and dates, head to the band’s official website.
