“He’s putting out some really serious stuff – tune in to him”: Robert Plant expresses support for Bruce Springsteen in light of Donald Trump feud

Once branding his presidency a “nightmare”, Bruce Springsteen has made his feelings on Donald Trump abundantly clear. And the Boss’s new live album Land of Hope & Dreams sees him criticising the US president once again – and Robert Plant is in full support.
According to Classic Rock, the Led Zeppelin legend expressed his support at a recent Saving Grace show at the Tampere Hall in Finland. “Right now in England, which is where we come from – not quite the land of the ice and snow – Bruce Springsteen is touring in the UK,” he said. “And he’s putting out some really serious stuff.”

He also encourages the crowd to heed Springsteen’s music and message. “Tune in to him,” he insisted.
Plant then went on to introduce the next track with a call of “and let’s all hope that we can be…”, before Saving Grace knocked out a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Friends.

Recorded at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena on 14 May, the intro of Land of Hope & Dreams sees Springsteen calling out Trump once again. “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times,” he says.
“My home – the America I love, the America I’ve written about that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years – is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”
“Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us,” he urged. “Raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring.” He then kicked into a triumphant performance of Land of Hope and Dreams.

Despite the official recording dropping on 20 May, Trump heard wind of it just two days after Springsteen’s Co-op Live show. The president took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, on 16 May to express his anger.
“I see that highly overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a foreign country to speak badly about the president of the United States,” he wrote [edited for legibility]. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his radical left politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy – just a pushy, obnoxious jerk, who fervently supported crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent fool, and our worst-ever president, who came close to destroying our country. If I wasn’t elected, it would have been gone by now!”
“Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock’ and couldn’t see what was going on. Or could he? (which is even worse!) This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to keep his mouth shut until he gets back into the country. Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
And if Trump’s chaotic rant didn’t get his point across, he also posted a video yesterday, quite literally taking aim at Springsteen with a golf ball.
