A Green Day gig recently took an unexpected Oasis-flavoured turn when a fan decided to play the wrong song at the wrong time.
Earlier this week (30 June), Green Day were wrapping up their set at Luxembourg’s Luxexpo when frontman Billie Joe Armstrong invited a fan onstage to play guitar for their usual closer, Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life). It’s a wholesome, time-honoured tradition… until it wasn’t.

Instead of strumming out the sentimental ballad, the fan boldly launched into the unmistakable opening chords of Oasis’s Wonderwall, prompting Armstrong to immediately stop him in his tracks.
Footage captured on TikTok shows an unimpressed Armstrong exclaiming “Oh, fuck me” into the microphone as he snatches the guitar back.
“Nice try,” he adds, while the fan was politely escorted off stage by security. The musician then took over and finished the song himself, as he’s done a few hundred times before.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher himself has caught wind of the moment, reacting to a video of it on X, writing: “Best song of the night”.

The timing couldn’t be more fitting as well. Oasis’s long-awaited, much-demanded massive reunion tour kicks off this Friday (4 July) at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Among those most excited is Gene Gallagher, Liam’s musician-slash-model son, who believes the comeback could spark a new guitar music boom.
“People have been deprived of guitar music,” he told W Magazine. “But now it’s coming back, and everyone’s getting excited about it.”
