“By the third or fourth ‘JUNT’ from the guitars my son was in tears”: Jimmy Kimmel fans demand apology after Knocked Loose performance

Earlier this week, US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! went hardcore.
Hosting a roaring performance from Knocked Loose and Poppy, metal fans of the world rejoiced at seeing heavy music take centre stage on TV. However, it seems other viewers were not so pleased, and some are even suggesting the show should apologise.

For the unacquainted, Knocked Loose are a hardcore band formed in Kentucky. They released their third and most recent record, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, back in May, featuring a mighty single Suffocate which includes guest vocals from fellow alternative artist Poppy. The track has been nominated for a Grammy award.
After performing the track on the show this week, some viewers were left bewildered by the fry vocals, heavy guitar work, and moshing from the audience present at the show. As reported by The Mirror, one viewer took to social media to complain, “You know I was trying to enjoy the programme. I was sitting on the couch with my son who is an ADOLESCENT waiting to see the musical guest because we like the nice music the show usually books.
They added, “By the third or fourth ‘JUNT’ from the guitars my son was in tears. He doesn’t like scary things and quite frankly I think the Kimmel show and its staff should make a formal apology.”
Another commented, “That wasn’t singing, anyone can yell lyrics and get paid”, while another user said, “This was not enjoyable. And you can’t understand more than 5 percent of the lyrics. Moshing doesn’t not equal dancing.”
You can watch the performance below:

However, those with a love for all things heavy were stoked to share their excitement about the set online – other artists including Chris Motionless of Motionless In White and Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence have also come forward to share the joy:

Still here, still screaming this. The Kimmel performance was a reminder why I fucking LOVE heavy music. Gave me crazy goosebumps. Congrats @knockedloose! https://t.co/nscs58gUN5

Oh my god, man, Knocked Loose on Kimmel is scene history! This is a fucking moon-landing for my people !!!
Some kid accidentally found that band tonight – same way I found Slipknot 15 years ago – and they are never gonna be the same again.
