Fender’s Champion 100XL provides a whole host of tones for an affordable price
Fender’s latest addition to the Champion Range is a two-channel solid-state amplifier that provides a number of useful practice features as well as gig-worthy tones.
The Champion 100XL lies In a similar area to the Boss Katana, somewhere in-between a practice amp and a gigging amp – featuring a total of sixteen built-in effects such as delay, chorus and tremolo, and a clean and an overdriven channel. Four ‘stompbox’ effects, compression, overdrive, distortion and octave are also available. Each channel has an independent effects section and tap tempo, along with a master effects loop to add your own delays and modulations.
The two-button footswitch is included with the amp, and lets you switch channels instantly, as well as toggle any effects on or off.
While the in-built effects, headphone and aux connections and solid-state operation mean this is a great amp for easy bedroom practice, the two 12” Celestion speakers and 100-watts will provide more than enough stage-worthy volume. Watch Fender’s demo below:
The Champion 100XL lists for £329. More information at fender.com.
