Gibson revives ’80s cult classic guitar the Victory

Gibson has officially revived the Victory, an ’80s cult classic electric guitar first produced when the company was owned by the Norlin Corporation.
“Created in response to player requests”, the reimagined Victory series is a perfect blend of classic aesthetics and modern functionality. It carries the DNA of the original versions with enhanced features such as refined body contours for great comfort and playability, improved weight and balance, and a new Explorer headstock.

Key features of the new Victory include a 25.5” scale length, a double cutaway mahogany body, and a mahogany neck with a 24-fret compound ebony fretboard.
Under the hood, the guitar is equipped with a pair of ‘80s Tribute humbuckers that deliver the fat, rich tones and sustain that defined the era. The pickups are wired to a three-way pickup selector switch, and push/pull master volume and tone controls for coil splitting and inner/outer coil selection when the coils are split.
Additional appointments include Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners on the headstock, and a Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium Stop Bar tailpiece. Each guitar also comes shipped with a hardshell Gibson case.

Players can choose between two versions – a Standard plain-topped version and a Figured Top version with an AA figured maple cap. The former is available in Dark Green Satin, Dark Walnut Satin, and Gold Mist Satin while the latter comes in a glossy Red Wine Burst, Iguana Burst, or Smokehouse Burst finish.
There’s also an exclusive Gibson model available from the company’s website and the Gibson Garage locations in gloss Translucent Ebony Burst.
Whether you’re a fan of the original or discovering the Victory for the first time, this revival offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of guitar history reimagined for the modern age.
The standard Victory is priced at $1,999. The figured top version, on the other hand, will cost you $2,499.
