“He’s clearly scared”: Tash Sultana wants to jam with John Mayer, and their fans are trying to make it happen
Tash Sultana has again said that they want to jam with John Mayer, and fans of both artists seem completely on board with the prospect.
The Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist – who identifies as gender-fluid – shared their desire to work with him on Instagram yesterday (9 September), urging their followers to tag Mayer in the comments, who have duly obliged.

“I am Tash Sultana,” the post says, “I have been playing guitar since the age of three. I am also an independent artist with billions of streams and multi-platinum-selling records. I am a multi-instrumentalist who composes, arranges, engineers, produces EVERY work I’ve released. And yet I’m still awaiting a jam off John Mayer.”
They add in the caption, “You know the assignment people, tag John Mayer, he’s sleeping on it.”

A scroll through the comments on Sultana’s post shows scores of fans tagging Mayer and urging him to get in touch with Sultana for a jam session. One urges him to play his 2003 song Covered in Rain, which he has never recorded for an album, with them, while another says “he’s clearly scared”.
It’s not the first time Sultana has reached out to Mayer through social media, writing in June, “Now it’s time buddy, you’ve been sleeping on a good jam. Tag this bloke, let’s make it happen.”

Last month, Mayer played a residency at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas with his band Dead & Company, which he formed in 2015 with former members of the Grateful Dead. He played the shows with just three fingers after injuring the index finger on his fretting hand.
He shared, “I have spent every day practising guitar using the other three fingers and I think I have it sounding pretty good! I’ve always felt like every part of me belongs to these shows, and it’s my responsibility to return to the stage each night without screwing up the equipment, and I’m sorry for the misadventure here. The power of the music and the love for these shows will prevail!”
Tash Sultana has a series of tour dates coming up in Australia. For tickets and a full list of events, head to their official website.
