Keeley’s Eccos is a vintage delay married with a looper

Keeley Electronics’ latest offering is the Eccos, a pedal that combines a vintage-styled delay with a fully-featured loop station for endless ambient experimentation.
The pedal’s delay tone, as the reel-to-reel artwork implies, is based on a flanged tape delay.
The looper aspect of the pedal offers unlimited overdubs and can store either 120 seconds of mono loops, or 60 of stereo. The dual footswitches, when in looper mode, allow you to record, play, reverse the current loop, halve its speed, or trigger ‘play once’ mode, all with the press of a switch. When in delay mode, the two footswitches offer either true-bypass switching or tap-tempo for fine control over the tape delay.
The five knobs on the pedal control the time and feedback of the delay, the mix of wet and dry, and the depth and rate of the modulation. By holding down the feedback knob, however, the knobs’ secondary functions can be accessed. This allows you to change the flanger delay time, blend between two different modulation styles, contour the EQ of your delay repeats, increase the flanger feedback. While holding the feedback knob down, the central selector switch will also select a delay subdivision mode instead, including quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, or triplet. Normally, this central switch selects between either delay or looper modes.
The unit also supports expression pedal input for control of the blend of the effect. The number of features packed in this pedal can be attributed to its Dream quad 24/56-bit processor, packing a lot of processing power into the enclosure to enable the in-depth control of the sounds on offer.
The pedal lists for $249. More information at robertkeeley.com.
