Liam and Noel Gallagher’s signed guitar to headline charity auction ahead of Oasis’s Manchester gigs
Oasis have donated a signed guitar to a charity auction supporting grassroots music projects and venues across Manchester ahead of their hometown gig this July.
The guitar – an Epiphone Riviera autographed by both Liam and Noel Gallagher – will be on display at Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square and remain there throughout the summer. It will be auctioned in September as part of Music for the Senses, a “guitar led takeover of the city centre”.

The news comes as Manchester gears up for what’s being dubbed Manchester Live 25 – a massive, city-wide celebration of live music expected to draw 1.3 million music fans from around the world. The Gallagher brothers’ homecoming shows at Heaton Park will anchor the three-month stretch of performances and events.
“We’re delighted to donate this guitar signed by Liam and Noel to help support Manchester’s grassroots music projects and kickstart the series of celebrations,” a spokesperson for Oasis says.
The Epiphone Riviera will be the centrepiece of a larger guitar-themed art trail featuring six-strings donated by other artists and members of the public. These guitars will be transformed into artworks by professional artists and displayed in shops, public spaces, and venues throughout July and August before being auctioned for charity.
The wider Music for the Senses program will also include impromptu performances, music markets, pop-up shops and a festival bar across the city – plus an interactive installation called Guitar Street by local artist Liam Hopkins (aka Lazarian), made from over 100 broken guitars.
Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, calls the Oasis donation “an incredible” gesture and says the summer lineup would be one of the most significant cultural events the city has hosted.
“This promises to be the summer of all summers in Manchester as we get set to welcome music fans from every part of the globe for a massive three months of nonstop live music,” Craig says. “A huge thank you also to Liam and Noel for getting behind our end-of-summer guitar auction to help up and coming young artists.”
More information on donating guitars or following the art trail is available at Music For Senses.
