Listen To Marty Friedman, Nuno Bettencourt, Alex Skolnick and more trade solos on new Lost Symphony track
Classical metal band Lost Symphony has recruited shred guitar virtuosos Marty Friedman (formerly of Megadeth), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Richard Shaw (Cradle Of Filth) for new track Take Another Piece.
The single arrives ahead of Lost Symphony’s third album Chapter III, which be released on 9 July. The video features home-recorded footage of the guest guitarists trading off lead guitar parts.
The band are a musical collective featuring founding member Benny Goodman, as well as his brother Brian Goodman, Cory Paza, Kelly Kereliuk, Paul Lourenco and Siobhán Cronin.
Marty Friedman said of the track in a statement: “The friendly folks in the Lost Symphony project have a deep love for guitar. Let me rephrase that, they are dangerously obsessed with it! Whenever I am invited to participate in their music, it is exciting to be around their tireless enthusiasm, and cool things always seem to happen because of it. The newest song, Take Another Piece may be my favourite of all the LS songs I’ve been a part of.”
Adds Skolnick added that “It is humbling to share guest guitar duties with Marty and Nuno, two guitarists I consider to be champions among our generation of players, and an overall honour to be brought in to participate.”
He also added: “While there is plenty of fodder for fans of ‘shred,’ there is also no shortage of moments for listeners of true classical, soundtracks and other symphonic music as well. The music may sound serious, but the players have a serious sense of humour, which adds to the overall quality.”
