The Money Shot: Echopark Case Study Bakersfield Custom Carved Top
We’ve been wowed by Gabriel Currie’s Echopark guitars before, and this is no exception – it’s is a symphony of aged tonewoods.
The Mosrite-esque body is old-stock Honduran mahogany, topped with hand-carved old-stock figured koa and finished in nitro ‘Echoburst’. The fretboard is old-stock figured ebony, while the neck is old-stock Honduran mahogany – and it’s genuinely one of the finest we’ve ever played.
A compound large V profile rounds out to a D up top, but the depth never feels excessive and melts into the palm thanks to beautifully dressed shoulders.
Nitrate dots and ’guard complete the picture and plugged in – courtesy of a set of Arcane Echotron pickups – the Bakersfield Custom has muscular twang in spades. £9,989.
