Warm Audio unveils its first guitar pedals, the Foxy Tone Box and the Jet Phaser
Warm Audio, best known for its high-quality reproductions of legendary microphones and other vintage studio gear, has announced its first-ever guitar pedals: the Foxy Tone Box and the Jet Phaser.
Both are based on hard-to-find guitar effects from the 70s, with the company’s aim being to match authentic vintage circuitry with modern features and reliability.
Foxy Tone Box
Image: Warm AudioThis is a “hyper-accurate” reproduction of the Foxx Tone Machine, a fuzz pedal favoured by the likes of Billy Gibbons and Peter Frampton during the early 70s. The Foxy Tone Box’s distinct fuzz derives from its meticulously chosen build materials, which stay true to the original, including its use of NOS Fairchild germanium transistors.
Its control section mirrors the original as well, giving users knobs for volume, sustain and fuzz (which dials up from Mellow to Brite). Along with this is a toggle switch for engaging the pedal’s octave effect, which, when paired with higher dirt settings can offer intense bouts of sputtery, squelchy fuzz.
This modern take on the Tone Machine also features true-bypass switching, and of course, an enclosure wrapped in thick velvet (orange, this time). Listen to the Foxy Tone Box in action below:
Jet Phaser
Image: Warm AudioWarm Audio’s reproduction of Roland’s celebrated Jet Phaser was designed to strongly mimic the original, both in its sonic qualities, as well as with its look and feel. It gives you six modes: two labeled Phase and four labeled Jet. The latter engage a fuzz effect that helps deliver the pedal’s most extreme sounding effects.
There’s also a resonance control for dialling in a filtered effect; a fast/slow foot switch that can kick the effect’s rate to maximum, and a slow rate knob that lets you mimic the gradual rate change of a rotary cabinet.
Some modern appointments on the Warm Audio Jet Phaser include a standard 18V DC input (PSU included) and true bypass switching. Take a listen to it below.
Pricing and Availability
The Foxy Tone Box and Jet Phaser are priced at $149 and $199, respectively.
