A Cort acoustic guitar, signed by Paul McCartney and Idris Elba, is on auction for charity
A Cort acoustic guitar, signed by Paul McCartney and actor Idris Elba, is on auction to raise funds for victims of domestic abuse.
Over the weekend (19 December), McCartney took part in a special interview conducted by Elba for BBC One. The pair autographed the Cort acoustic guitar at the end of the conversation.
The guitar will be on auction till New Years Day (7pm GMT); at press time, it holds a bid of £5,200. 100 per cent of proceeds will go to S.T.O.R.M, an organisation dedicated to supporting and sheltering victims of domestic abuse.
According to a statement from the British-based organisation, lockdowns for COVID-19 have resulted in a “significant increase” in domestic abuse. As a response, the raised funds will be deployed to “immediately aid those in need during this holiday season.”

McCartney, during his hour-long interview with Elba, discussed his writing process, his latest album, McCartney III, and of course, his work in the Beatles. The conversation is available to watch in full, here.
In other Fab Four news, a special preview of Peter Jackson’s highly-anticipated Beatles: Get Back, was released yesterday (21 December). The sneak peak came in the wake of production delays that pushed the documentary film’s release to 27 August 2021.
Last week, McCartney also teased an upcoming Beatles “documentary event” featuring producer Rick Rubin. The mysterious project, which does not have a release date yet, will explore the music and history of the Fab Four.
