Dave Grohl gave a surprise performance of ‘Everlong’ to an ER nurse

Dave Grohl made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Monday (27 April), where he performed an acoustic rendition of Everlong as a surprise for TJ Riley, an ER nurse and COVID-19 survivor.
“Oh shit! Dave!” Riley said upon seeing Grohl, “I’m a huge, huge fan.”
The surprise was planned by Kimmel and Grohl as a means to show their appreciation to the emergency room nurse. In addition to Grohl’s performance, Kimmel also presented Riley with $10,000 – a gift from the Life Is Good apparel company.
“Really, thank you TJ so much for everything you’ve done for so many people, it’s much appreciated and Jimmy, thanks for honouring such brilliant people for doing the right thing”, Grohl said after his performance.
During his interview with Kimmel, Riley spoke about the difficulties he faced while working as an emergency room nurse at the Jacobi Medical Center in New York. He revealed that 60% of his coworkers have since contracted the coronavirus.
Last month, Grohl also gave an unplugged performance on iHeartRadio’s Living Room live streamed concert series – which raised money for Feeding America’s COVID-19 response fund.
