Ed Sheeran has broken the record for highest-grossing tour ever
Ed Sheeran now holds the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time. The English megastar’s Divide Tour has grossed $736.7 million over 246 shows, according to Pollstar’s calculations.
This surpasses the previous record set by U2 on their 360 Tour in 2011, which grossed $735.4 million over 110 shows. The 28-year-old has also beaten Bono and Co. in terms of tour attendance and days spent on tour. In terms of attendance, the pop star trumped U2’s record of 7.3 million with a total of 7,315,970. That total figure has since climbed to 8,504,493 with his latest shows in Hannover, Germany.
And by the time the Divide Tour draws to a close in Sheeran’s Ipswich, England hometown on 26 August, he would’ve spent 893 days on the road, besting U2’s 760-day record.
“I just found out the Divide Tour is set to be the highest-grossing tour of all time — this is amazing,” Sheeran said in a statement. “I feel very lucky to have experienced all of the wonderful countries and crowds over the past two and a half years. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made it possible.”
It truly has been a busy year for the megastar. Besides smashing records on stages, Sheeran also made waves when he announced his range of affordable acoustic guitars with Lowden earlier this year. Most recently, he’s enjoyed a third week at the top of the UK charts with No.6 Collaborations Project, his fourth studio album which features a laundry list of famous friends including Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, Travis Scott, Eminem and more.
