Summer NAMM 2019: Taylor expands V-Class range with new Grand Concert and 12-string electros

New at Summer NAMM 2019, Taylor has revealed an expanded range of guitars sporting the company’s revolutionary V-Class bracing, adding new V-Class models to its Grand Concert instruments, a brand new Builder’s Edition all-koa Grand Auditorium model, and perhaps most interestingly, bringing the innovative bracing system to its 12-string guitars for the first time.
The new 12-string guitars come from the company’s 300 and 500 series models, and claim to offer greater pitch accuracy and harmonic agreement between notes thanks to the V-Class bracing. “I feel like I finally get to play a 12-string that’s in tune,” says Taylor master guitar designer Andy Powers.

The new V-Class 12-string models are the Sitka spruce/sapele 352ce and the mahogany/blackwood 362ce. From the higher-end 500 series, the 552ce features a Western red cedar top with mahogany back and sides, while the 562ce is an all-mahogany 12-string.
The guitars all make use of Taylor’s new double-mounted string anchoring system, which allows two strings to be anchored at the bridge under a single pin for improved stability.

Additionally, Taylor has expanded its V-Class offerings in its Grand Concert body shape in the  400, 600, 700, 900, Koa and Presentation Series, meaning that all Grand Concert guitars made in Taylor’s El Cajon factory now feature V-Class bracing.
The various Grand Concert models sport a variet of different tonewoods. The new rosewood back and sides models comprise the 412ce-R (Sitka spruce top) and the 712e 12-Fret (Lutz spruce top). The The 612ce 12-Fret features a maple top.

Finally, Taylor’s top-of-the-line Builder’s Edition Koa Series has returned in the shape of the K24ce, which has a lush koa top emphisised by the seductive sunburst, paua abalone and koa trim, and paua Spring Vine inlays with thin koa purfling lines on the fretboard and headstock.
