Summer NAMM 2019: The best gear of Day 2
Summer NAMM 2019 is officially underway. Here are eight of our favourite offerings from day 2.
Reverend guitars
Reverend has launched a trio of retro-style electrics, including the Manta Ray 390, Charger RAFM and RGX. These have the perfect blend of vintage appeal and robust playability.
EHX Dirt Road amp
EHX has re-released its fabled 1970s Dirt Road Special amp. This edition comes with modern electronics and a more durable design.
Fishman TriplePlay
Here’s a left-field offering from renowned pickup brand Fishman – a Midi controller app called TriplePlay Connect. It’s designed to help you build bridges between the guitar and iPad, giving you the ability to build loops, play virtual instruments, add effects and more.
Harmony H650 amplifier
At its Summer NAMM booth, Harmony showcased the Series 6 amplifiers along with the recently released electrics. We managed to score some time with the H650 amplifier, a 50-watt, 1×12 combo with plenty of range.
Sundragon Jimmy Page amplifer
At the beginning of this year, Jimmy Page launched the Sundragon, a limited-edition recreation of the original amp he used on Led Zeppelin I. Announced alongside this exclusive unit was a more accessible “Standard” model, which we had a chance to encounter at Summer NAMM 2019.
EVH Bumblebee
EVH ’79 Bumblebee Tribute RelicIt’s been 40 years since Eddie Van Halen’s Van Halen II was released. To commemorate the 1979 record, EVH has released a special tribute model dubbed as the ‘Bumblebee’.
Line 6 Spider
Line 6 has unveiled the second edition of its Spider V amp range. The new series, including five modelling amps and a single cabinet, is touted as the brand’s most versatile offering to date.
Gretsch Electromatic
Gretsch has pulled the curtains back on a new Electromatic model: the G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT with Bigsby. This double-cut beauty features a chambered mahogany body and an arched maple top. It’s also loaded with the brand’s new Black Top Filter’Tron humbuckers voiced for that classic Gretsch tone.
