Epiphone revisits the Riviera, introduces new worn finishes for the Casino

Epiphone has launched fresh takes on two hollowbody classics from the 60s: the Riviera and Casino.
These two latest guitars follow several new launches from the brand: new Coronet, Wilshire and Crestwood models; two new Inspired By Gibson ES models, and the first Inspired By Gibson acoustic guitars.
Here’s a look at the 2020 Epiphone Riviera and Casino models.
Epiphone Riviera 2020
Image: EpiphoneEpiphone’s latest take on the semi-hollow Riviera sports a maple body construction, a mahogany neck and an Indian laurel fingerboard with 22 frets. At first glance, the instrument may appear identical to the more popular ES-335 as it shares its body shape. However, there are some key differences as far as electronics and pickups are concerned.
This guitar comes equipped with two Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers that are routed to two sets of volume and tone controls and a three-way toggle switch.
One of the Riviera’s more distinct hardware features is its Frequensator tailpiece, a design that dates back to the 1940s. The Frequensator has ardent fans and strong critics, but whether you love it or hate it, the tailpiece does evoke a strong retro sensibility on the instrument.
The Epiphone Riviera comes in Royal Tan and Sparkling Burgundy finishes.
Epiphone Casino 2020
Image: EpiphoneThe Casino is one of Epiphone’s most beloved instruments and a rock ’n’ roll staple – after all, it was the guitar Paul McCartney used to track the iconic Taxman on the Beatles’ Revolver.
Now, Epiphone has introduced a trio of worn finishes – including Worn Olive Drab, Worn Ebony and Worn Blue Denim – for the fully hollow classic. Outside of that, these guitars feature a layered maple hollow body, two punchy Dogear P-90 pickups and a mahogany neck with a 60s C profile.
Pricing and availability
The Epiphone Riviera and Casino are available now for $649 and $449, respectively.
