Summer NAMM 2019: Boss releases multi-voiced SY-1 synth pedal

Boss has kicked off its Summer NAMM 2019 plans with the SY-1. Inspired by Boss’ SY-300, this pedal arms you with 121 synth sounds that can be played polyphonically.
The SY-1 features 11 synth types that each have 11 variations, giving you a grand total of 121 analogue-style synth sounds. Standout types include Lead 1 and 2 – which can assist in expressive single-note soloing – as well as Pad, which offers layered pads, synth brass sounds and more.
Other noteworthy types are Bass and Organ – the former gives you fat synth bass sounds while the latter equips you with layered organs. Rounding out the type options are STR (strings), Bell, two SFX (Sound effects) and two SEQ (sequences).
As for controls, the SY-1 primarily be shaped by a Tone/Rate and Depth knob as well as an Effect Direct control. When external effects are patched into the SY-1, you can use the Effect Direct control to blend them in parallel with the SY-1’s synth sounds. The single pedal switch can also be held down to sustain your last-played synth sound.
Last but not least, you can pair the SY-1 with an external footswitch – for tap-tempo and octave-shifting – or with an exp pedal for tactile control over the Tone/Rate parameter.
