Summer NAMM 2019: Line 6’s new Spider V MkII is its most versatile amp range yet

Line 6 has lifted the lid on the second version of its popular Spider V range at Summer NAMM 2019. Five modelling amps and one cabinet comprise the new series, which the brand claims is its most versatile yet.
The new amps include the Spider V 30 MkII, 60 MkII, 120 MkII, 240 MkII and 240HC MkII, all of which ship with more than 200 emulations of amps, cabinets and effects, with 128 presets. They also feature an onboard tuner, metronome and drum loops. In addition, the models from 60 MkII and up also sport built-in wireless receivers.
The Spider V 30 MKiiAll the amps sport two modes: Classic Speaker and Full-range Speaker. The former provides organic tones and responsiveness, while the latter is designed for acoustic guitars.
“The all-new Spider V MkII amplifiers have been meticulously designed to deliver
outstanding tones and provide countless hours of smiles and satisfaction,” Adrian
Haselhuber, the brand’s director of product management said in a statement. “And they are the only products of their kind with two distinctively different speaker modes: Classic for traditional tones, and Full-range for acoustic guitars and music playback. Whether practicing or performing, or both, there’s a Spider V MkII amp for every guitarist.”
The most feature-packed amp of the new range, the 240HC MkII, is a 240-watt amp head that also has two four-inch speakers, XLR direct stereo outputs and a USB audio interface. And the Spider V 412 MkII, is a 4×12 cabinet – with Celestion speakers – that can handle up to 320 watts.
